Jazz highlight: NDR Bigband inspires in Hitzacker on November 28th!

Things get musical in Hitzacker! On November 28, 2025, the NDR Big Band's final concert will take place at the Verdo Cultural Center as part of their school tour. It starts at 7 p.m. and for an entrance fee of 8 euros, all jazz and music lovers can enjoy this unique experience. The advance sales points include the Drawehn School in Clenze, the Verdo Cultural Center, the Aßmann bakery in Clenze as well as the Wolfgang Schulz bookstore in Wustrow and Willam Optik in Lüchow.

Under the direction of the talented trumpeter Frederik Köster and the conductor Hendrika Entzian, the NDR Big Band presents a program that offers a rich musical variety, from rock, pop and swing to funk and Latin. The aim of the school tour is to promote enthusiasm for jazz and music-making among budding talents. Not only experienced musicians have their say, but also students from the Drawehn School in Clenze, who are now in years 9 to 13 showing what they have learned.

The musicians travel with two trucks and a bus, including 24 members of the technical team. The Drawehn School is also celebrating its 20th anniversary in the big band area, which shows how firmly anchored jazz and music-making are in the region.

The NDR Big Band is not only active in Hitzacker, but also travels to cities like Oldenburg and Seevetal to pass on the love of music and discover talent.
