Record at the Oldenstader 9-meter spectacle: Generation Bomber” wins!
There was a very special event in Oldenstadt on June 17, 2025 that made the hearts of football fans beat faster. The 3rd Oldenstadt 9-meter team spectacle attracted over 400 active and interested people to the sports field, which created a great atmosphere. The day was characterized by exciting matches and a new tournament winner: “GenerATION Bomber”, with the extraordinary top scorer Jaari Arndt from SV Holdenstedt, was able to bring home the title. AZ Online reports that the team was nicknamed “The Dry Squad” or “Team Lead-Free”, which caused a smile among the spectators.
The defending champions, “Die Eiskalten”, had to admit defeat in the semi-finals and were only able to secure 3rd place against the “Hot Shots” in the small final. These exciting duels were watched with enthusiasm by the spectators and once again showed how popular the tournament is in the region. However, the “SC Devils”, who reached the final for the first time, had to admit defeat in the final match. Fans also enjoyed the need to cool off in the “bathroom” corner after watching the thrilling games.
A successful organization
The event was organized by a dedicated team around the organizers Norman Arndt, Nils Adam, Stefan Schwerter, Florian Hagen, Thorsten Rudnick and Benjamin Bücker, who took care of every detail. Chief organizer Arndt was positive about the atmosphere and the large number of spectators that enlivened the sports field. Special awards were also given out, with the trophies for the best performance at the bar going to the “Witnesses Yeboah’s” and “Team Wasserhaus” teams.
It was also exciting for the “Schnute” team, which won the “The dogs bite the last” trophy for the final position. Next year you can look forward to the fourth edition of the spectacle, which is planned for 2026. Such events not only strengthen community spirit, but also show the high popularity of football in the region.
A trend in viewership
The success of such events is not an isolated case. Two Circles explained that German professional sport recorded around 47.5 million viewers in the 2023/2024 season - an increase of almost 30% compared to the 2017/2018 season. Men's football in particular dominates with an attendance share of 46% of the growth. Women's football is also enjoying enormous popularity, which is due to increasing interest and better media presence.
Seen in this way, the Oldenstadt 9-meter team spectacle contributes to the positive development in sports - not only regionally, but also in the German context as a whole. It remains exciting to see how the number of spectators and the popularity of football will continue to develop.
