Traffic chaos in Uelzen: Metal concert and open R festival lock streets!

Uelzen, Deutschland - Uelzen will be all about music and celebrations in the coming days. On June 21, the city is expecting a rousing metal concert that will heat the minds. But that's not all! The renowned Open R Festival will take place from June 27th to 29th, which promises a varied program. But as the Uelzen press reports, the traffic is noticeably restricted by these events.

Albrecht-Thaer-Straße is closed to the duration of the events. More precisely, this applies from Friday, June 20th to Monday, June 23, and again from Thursday, June 26th to Tuesday, July 1st. On the days of the concert and the festival, only the concert goers are allowed to drive the road from the Bohldamm to park their vehicles in the parking lot on Albrecht-Thaer-Platz. Outside of this time, however, this parking lot is closed, which should take into account the arrival. According to the latest information from the Uelzener Nachrichten, parking for commuting railway users at the town hall, at Schützenplatz, to the alternative.

Details on the road closures

The Wullhop-Straße will be blocked at the same time from June 20th to 23rd and again from June 26 to July 1. The residents' streets around the Albrecht-Thaer site are also affected: in the periods from June 21 to 23 and from June 27th to 30th, residents have to prepare for Eschemannstrasse, Wollsteiner Straße, Marienburger Straße, Stargarder Straße and Eichendorffstraße. Only residents are allowed to drive these streets to Eschemannstrasse during the periods mentioned.

According to the city of Uelzen, there will be some adjustments in the traffic system. From June 30th to July 4th, Albrecht-Thaer-Straße will become the ten oaks to the one-way street towards Sternstrasse from the roundabout. In addition, Tempo 30 applies in this area from June 28th. From June 30th to July 2, rail commuters will be prevented from using their parking lot on Albrecht-Thaer-Straße. An alternative parking space on the site of the town hall is planned for this.

The journey by car is different for the festival visitors, depending on the direction of the commerce. Bundesstraße 4 and the B191 offer immediate entrances from different directions. The footpath from the Hundertwasserbahnhof to the Almased Arena is about five minutes.
