Drama in the district: Seriously injured cyclists and fires cause excitement!
This Sunday, June 22, 2025, there are some moving events in northern Germany. The fire brigade was challenged and the police also have their hands full.
In the morning,in Georgsmarienhütte a fire broke out in a warehouse that caused property damage of around 100,000 euros. Fortunately, there were no injuries, but an adjacent residential building had to be evacuated while the police started the investigation. Bakumer Harmer Straße was also the scene of another fire brigade, where a fire in a sub-distribution jar could quickly be located and deleted by using the thermal imaging camera Om-online.
accidents and injuries
The streets of northern Germany were also anything but safe today. In Neuenkirchen, an 84-year-old cyclist was seriously injured in a collision with a 19-year-old driver and had to be flown to the hospital with a rescue helicopter. Another accident occurred on the B213, where a car-residential car team and a car collided. Both drivers were able to get away with minor injuries, but the damaged damage amounts to around 8,000 euros.
The situation in which a 40-year-old man from Visbek caused an accident with 2.34 per thousand is particularly explosive. He had to give up his driver's license and was asked to take blood. This attracts further attention to a recurring problem: the alcohol -related traffic accidents, which, according to statistics from the Federal Statistical Office, performed over 600,000 times in Germany in recent decades, whereby more than 26,000 such accidents were registered in 2022 alone. [Statista] (https://de.statista.com/statistik/studie/459049/umfrage/anzahl-der- alcohol-related-verfalle-de-Deutschland/) clearly shows how important it is to deal responsibly with alcohol, especially if you are at the wheel.
crime and police actions
The police are also looking for a false driver in the Vechta district and has initiated procedures against four car pods in Cloppenburg. The investigators ask the population for help and clues to the incidents, while in Emstek an undesirable electronic waste theft was displayed on a container after failure. Here, too, witnesses are asked to report to the police.
A look at the news from our region shows that both fire brigade and the police are required and the tasks will probably not be less in the coming days. As usual, further updates and information on the current developments can be obtained from BR-Deutschland.
