RASTA Vechta starts the team training of the new season with energy!

On August 11, 2025, the RASTA Vechta team completed its first training session after a week of intensive individual sessions in the RASTA Dome. After the renovations to the sports center, expectations are high. The club bosses Stefan Niemeyer and Lukas Middendorf as well as sports director Gerrit Kersten-Thiele are getting players and coaches ready for the coming season, which is loud Rasta Vechta promises an exciting phase.

The first team training started at 11:48 a.m. with a basketball drill led by head coach Christian Held. The players were immediately divided into two groups: the “bigs” under the basket and the “smalls” on the other side. 29-year-old Joschka Ferner, the oldest player in the squad, also noticed that there was an exciting but not nervous atmosphere.

A committed start to the season preparation

The new season promises excitement as RASTA Vechta starts the easyCredit BBL with a full squad. The first league game against MLP Academics Heidelberg will kick off on September 27th. Further home games are on the program on October 4th against Mitteldeutscher BC and on December 29th against EWE Baskets Oldenburg.

Some interesting games have been scheduled for this season. There is a home game against FC Bayern Munich on November 9th, and the duel with Alba Berlin on January 19th also promises to be a highlight. The preliminary schedule also shows that the league must remain flexible as games may be rescheduled due to international competitions, hall availability or TV broadcast times.

The challenges also include qualifying for the FIBA ​​Europe Cup against BC Balkan Botevgrad, which begins on September 24th at the RASTA Dome.
