Colorful spectacle: Wilhelmshaven is transformed at the street art festival!
Things will soon be colorful in Wilhelmshaven! From August 1st to 3rd, 2025, the city center will be transformed into a spectacular open-air gallery for the 13th time when the popular street art festival opens its doors. Artists from a total of eleven nations travel to present their creative works and fight for victory in the major street painting competition. The city becomes a canvas on which fascinating works of art are created with chalk.
The festival, organized by Wilhelmshaven Touristik und Freizeit GmbH (WTF) in collaboration with numerous partners, has a special focus: As part of the competition, visitors can evaluate the works of art in the categories “Free Art”, “Copy” and “3D”. The votes of the audience and the artists decide who comes out on top in the end. The winner will receive a very special opportunity – an invitation to take part in the renowned “Bella Via” festival in Monterey, Mexico.
Participatory activities and a crowd puller
Particularly outstanding will be the large 3D image created by the artist Melina Berg on Valoisplatz. Visitors can also look forward to exciting hands-on activities: body painting artists will present their skills in front of the audience. An extensive supporting program ensures that no one is bored - for example with a special 3D selfie station and a children's and youth program that promotes creative talents and invites people to join in.
On August 3, 2025, Wilhelmshaven's city center will be open for shopping on Sunday, so that visitors can explore not only the art, but also the numerous shops and offers on site. A visit during the festival promises a lot of variety and a colorful hustle and bustle in the city!
Parallel event and new murals
The “Spray Watt Festival” takes place parallel to the street art festival. Here the organizers Kristof Willig, Daniel Treptow and the graffiti artist “Yety” are expecting over 100 other artists who will come from all over Europe and even the USA. The art scene in Wilhelmshaven shows itself at its best.
Another highlight will be the large-scale redesign of the parking garage, for which an impressive scaffolding measuring 125 by 10 meters was erected. During this time, discussions about new murals are ongoing, and even if no large murals are created this year, the hope for new works of art remains alive in Wilhelmshaven.
The street art festival promises to be a real highlight in the city's event calendar. It's great that Wilhelmshaven serves as a stage for such creative talents and the city is transformed into a colorful spectacle. This event is definitely not to be missed!
