The magical Christmas markets in Lower Saxony 2025: A festival for everyone!

The anticipation for the holidays is increasing because the Christmas markets in Lower Saxony are just around the corner! From Wolfsburg to Wilhelmshaven – lights shine everywhere and spread a festive atmosphere. The first markets open on November 24th and offer numerous attractions until shortly before the turn of the year.

The Christmas market in Wolfsburg starts on November 24th and captivates everyone with a colorful program until December 29th. Entertainment is very important here: with live music on the weekends and after-work evening hits every Thursday on Hugo-Bork-Platz, you can simply forget the stress of everyday working life. Around 60 stalls offer a wide range of treats and gifts, from crafts to festive delicacies. The official opening will take place at 5 p.m. by Mayor Dennis Weilmann, before the musical accompaniment by Antenne Niedersachsen begins at 4:30 p.m., reports Antenne Niedersachsen.

Special highlights in the area

Christmas by the sea is the motto in Wilhelmshaven! From November 24th to December 28th, visitors can look forward to a festive atmosphere in the city center. A stall village at Valoisplatz, children's activities including visits from Santa Claus and musical activities promise contemplative days. There are also maritime tours with “Jantje von Dangast” on the Advent weekends – that’s something very special!

Osnabrück focuses on exercise and social evenings with the magic of ice! From November 14th to December 21st, visitors to Nikolaiort can experience a curling tournament, as well as the opportunity to treat themselves to treats and hot drinks. Christmas magic comes to life here, also in over 50 other Christmas markets in Lower Saxony.

Art and culture at the markets

The cities of Hanover and Braunschweig also offer festive events. In Hanover, several markets are opening in the city center, including the Old Town Market with around 120 stalls. A very special highlight is the Christmas village on Ernst-August-Platz, which is open until December 30th and impresses with its Ferris wheel and light projections. Braunschweig, on the other hand, has been celebrating for 300 years in front of the cathedral and Dankwarderode Castle with a market that offers handicrafts and regional specialties.

Why not take a trip to neighboring Bremen? The Christmas market around the historic town hall and the Roland awaits visitors with lively activity and a unique atmosphere. The stands open their doors here from November 24th to December 23rd, while maritime delicacies can be found at Schlachte-Zauber on the Weser promenade.

Events for every taste

Not to be forgotten are the many other Christmas markets in Lower Saxony - from Lüneburg to Hameln, in the historical ambience around the wedding house or the market square in Celle. Whether with children's carousels, lantern parades or craft activities, families and holiday enthusiasts get their money's worth here. A nice example is the Christmas village in Lüneburg, which delights visitors with trumpeter music and a fairytale mile on the market square.

The traditional market not only creates a wonderful anticipation of the holidays, but is also a meeting place for the community. Preparations for Advent are already in full swing and we can look forward to countless hours of festivities. If you're still looking for something special, you can also visit the Stanzes Christmas Worlds in Hanover, which will give Christmas magic a face this November.

For the brave, there will be the QUOTENFETE on November 29th in the ÖVB Arena Bremen, which is expected to attract around 8,000 young people. Things get really sporty here with competitions such as milk can lifting and bull riding!

So be ready for festive moments and anticipation of an unforgettable Christmas! For detailed information about the markets and events, see the reports on Antenne Niedersachsen, Wasserburger Wintertraum and NDR.
