New bus route network: start postponed – students in danger!
Something is happening in terms of local public transport in the region between Wittingen, Brome and Wolfsburg. But not everything goes according to plan. The Bachstein transport company has postponed the introduction of the new bus network regionalheute.de reported. At an information evening in Parsau, numerous concerns were expressed, particularly regarding school transport and the associated transfer options.
The participants of the event dealt intensively with the challenges of the new lines. The discussion focused on safety aspects for students. It quickly became clear that the advantages of the new bus network were not yet clear to many people. In order to address the concerns, the regional association and the transport companies are working together with the Gifhorn district to examine individual journeys.
Planned changes and their effects
From August 14, 2025, the current timetables will continue to apply, only with small adjustments. In the long term, the aim is to design the bus route network so that it meets the requirements of all-day schooling from the 2026/2027 school year. Major changes to the route and timetable will no longer be possible by this point. The aim is to promote acceptance of the new system through rework and to ensure a modern, user-friendly local transport service.
As part of the revision of the bus network in sub-network 14, not only school transport should be strengthened. The new concept also provides for clear lines and reliable cycle times. Options for changing bus connections are intended to improve the connection to rail traffic in Wolfsburg. Boldecker-Land.de highlights that the RegioBus line 160 and the state bus line 300 will in future offer two trips per hour between Parsau/Rühen and Wolfsburg on weekdays.
Comprehensive innovations in the route network
- Direkte Anbindungen: Bergfeld wird direkt ins Netz integriert.
- Stündliche Erreichbarkeit: Croya und Ahnebeck bleiben von Montag bis Freitag über die Linie 300 erreichbar.
- Schulverkehre: Diese wurden mit einfachen Linienführungen neu konzipiert.
- VW-Werksverkehr: Die Linien 151 und 153 wurden zusammengelegt.
- Besondere Fahrten: Die Linie 161 verkehrt nur an Schultagen zwischen Brome und Rühen.
The new school timetables were deliberately designed to be clear to make daily use easier for students. In the future, line 163 will offer connections to bus and train services in Wittingen as well as to RegioBus line 160 in Brome, which should further improve the networking of the various means of transport. Those responsible have shown a good hand when it comes to adapting local bus connections to regional bus and train lines.
In order to successfully introduce the new bus route network, the Greater Braunschweig Regional Association can rely on the opinions of both transport companies and passengers. It is hoped that the implementation of the changes will meet the needs of users. Because one thing is clear: In this day and age, well-connected local transport is more important than ever!
