Speeders and e-scooter drivers: Police in Wolfsburg sound the alarm!
Road safety is very important in Wolfsburg, and the police carried out extensive traffic controls throughout the city. A driver on the B 188 was caught as an inglorious front runner. At 99 km/h he raced past a place where only 70 km/h is allowed. This speeding violation will earn him a fine of 150 euros and a point in Flensburg, like that WAZ reported.
But that wasn't all: within an hour, the police registered a total of nine other road users who were not adhering to the speed limit. This shows that the issue of road safety is becoming more important than ever and requires real attention. Dealing with speeding is particularly important because it not only leads to fines, but also to points in Flensburg and possibly even driving bans, like that ADAC highlights.
Focus on pedestrian zones
Another focal point of the controls was Porschestrasse, where 18 traffic violations were recorded in the pedestrian zone in just one hour. Cyclists and e-scooter drivers did not adhere to the driving ban in this traffic-calmed zone. These violations are not taken lightly by the police. Traffic offenders must expect a warning fine to ensure the safety of pedestrians.
The police have already announced that the checks will continue. An appeal is made to all road users: “Stick to the rules!” In addition to the financial consequences of fines, serious violations also have legal consequences, including the possibility that drivers who drive significantly too fast will be banned from driving.
The consequences of speeding
The fines for speeding are clearly set out in the nationwide catalog of fines. If you drive up to 10 km/h too fast in urban areas, you can expect to pay 30 euros; If you exceed 21 to 25 km/h it is already 115 euros and one point in Flensburg. In addition, if you exceed a speed limit of 26 km/h outside of urban areas, a one-month driving ban can be imposed. Anyone who goes beyond this and is more than 70 km/h too fast will face a fine of 800 euros and a three-month driving ban.
These numbers show how serious the situation is. Drivers often only find out about their violation through a hearing, which underlines the importance of being mindful on the roads. And remember, every driver has the right to challenge their fine notice within two weeks if they have any doubts about its correctness.
The current controls in Wolfsburg are a clear sign that both drivers and other road users such as cyclists and e-scooter drivers are being held responsible. Safety comes first — and it’s up to all of us to make sure the roads are safe for everyone.
