Teenager from Wolfsburg injures police officers during operation
An incident occurred in Wolfsburg on Friday afternoon that caused a stir and put the police on alert. A 16-year-old injured two police officers who were on duty. They were on duty at the Nordkopf due to an operation against a man who was carrying a baton when the situation came to a head. The man was brought to the ground by emergency services and suddenly found himself surrounded by up to 150 people who showed their solidarity with him. Such situations not only cause problems for officials, but also for public order. NDR reports.
The 16-year-old and her 15-year-old companion were sent off because they tried to disrupt the operation. In this heated moment, however, an attack occurred in which the 16-year-old attacked the police officers. She punched and kicked them, resulting in the 25-year-old policewoman being injured in the head and knees. She also had to go to the hospital and was unable to work after her discharge. Her colleague, 30 years old, was spared serious injuries, but also suffered minor injuries.
Bustle and legal action
The 16-year-old was also brought to the ground after the incident and ultimately placed in the care of the youth welfare office. As a result of the incident, criminal and administrative offense proceedings were initiated against both her and the 15-year-old. Situations like this show once again how hardened the mood in certain circles often is, especially when it comes to dealing with the police. In another matter, the police are also looking for witnesses to a case in Gifhorn where fraudsters posed as police officers on the phone.
Crime statistics in focus
In the context of current police work, it is interesting to know that the 2024 police crime statistics in Hesse were presented by Interior Minister Roman Poseck on March 6, 2025. According to the Hessian police There were a total of 388,226 registered crimes in 2024 - a decrease of 2.3 percent compared to the previous year. This marks the first decline after the rise in crime following the Corona pandemic years, while an increase of 7.8 percent was observed from 2022 to 2023. The frequency figure fell to 6,046 crimes per 100,000 inhabitants, while the clearance rate fell from 63.2 percent to 61.9 percent.
So it remains to be seen how the trend will develop further. Significant declines in crime as well as increasing conflicts with the police raise exciting questions: What is happening in Wolfsburg and beyond?
