Volkswagen inspires: Curry Buzz brings fresh sausage directly to the factory!
VW is bringing culinary innovation to Wolfsburg: The converted ID.Buzz, affectionately known as “Curry-Buzz”, was presented today. This fully electric food bus is on a mission to revolutionize employee break snacks. Shift workers can now enjoy different currywurst variants directly in the factory - all silently and emission-free, as News38 reports.
The curry buzz is not only a new gag for the lunch break, but also fits in with Volkswagen's sustainable ambitions. The Curry Buzz will not only be used at the main plant in Wolfsburg - a stop on Braunschweiger Straße is also set to open soon, where even more Wolfsburg residents can enjoy trying different types of VW currywurst.
Currywurst hot dog and more
Things will be particularly exciting with the premiere of the “Currywurst Hot Dog”, which will take place in Wolfsburg this week. It is served, as well as sandwiches, fresh salads and vegetable bowls, in the new Food ID Buzz. The food bus is an in-house design by the VW Service Factory and was realized in close collaboration with Volkswagen technical development. He is deployed at six stations in Wolfsburg six days a week. After the initial positive response, more emission-free food trucks could possibly even be set up in the halls, says Gunnar Kilian, Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG, happily, and emphasizes the importance of improving the break situation for employees.
With this initiative, Volkswagen is also underpinning its comprehensive sustainability goals. According to the Annual Report 2024, the group has set clear guidelines with regard to the environment and society. Sustainability is not just a buzzword, but an integral part of the new group strategy “Mobility for generations”. This focuses on a total of four dimensions: nature, workforce, society and business. This strategy is intended to ensure that Volkswagen not only offers environmentally friendly products, but also acts responsibly in social matters.
Together for a better future
The sausage during the break is not just a simple snack, but part of a larger plan that takes both the physical well-being of the employees and the environment into account. Volkswagen takes its responsibility seriously and maintains an active dialogue with its stakeholders. This ensures that expectations and needs are incorporated into the corporate strategy. With a clear focus on decarbonization and structured sustainability management, the company shows that it is about more than just the next great snack.
The shift workers in Wolfsburg can look forward to a balanced and more varied diet - all in an environmentally friendly concept that promotes both enjoyment and sustainability.
