Fire and accidents: Dramatic events overshadow Schleswig-Holstein!
On July 19, 2025, Schleswig-Holstein was under the impression of several incidents that both the fire brigades and the traffic residents trot. A serious traffic accident near Schuby, in which several vehicles were involved, was particularly serious.
On the said night there was a collision of three cars at the Weideweg/Pukholm intersection, including a VW bus. Six people suffered injuries, three of them seriously injured. Tragically, one person is in mortal danger. The circumstances that led to this accident are currently being examined by an expert.
Fire brigade missions in Bad Oldesloe and Bad Malente
At the same time, the fire brigades in Bad Oldesloe and Bad Malente were challenged. In Bad Oldesloe, an empty villa burned completely down on the night of July 19. Two fire brigades were used for over six hours, luckily there were no injuries. Otherwise in Bad Malente, where a fire broke out in a double house on July 19. Here two people were able to get to safety in good time before the emergency services arrived.
The causes of fire of both fire have not yet been finally clarified. While the fire brigade in Bad Oldesloe did not exclude arson, the background of the fire in Bad Malente are still unclear.
weather and events
But not only the fires and accidents determined the headlines. On July 18, the 136th Travemünder Woche was officially opened, which has to offer sailing and live music by July 27th. In addition, the extraordinary heavy rain caused floods in Norderstedt and Neumünster on the same day. In Norderstedt the state of emergency was proclaimed that the fire brigade had a total of 200 missions, but there were no injuries.
On July 19, a mixed picture is expected according to the weather service: the temperatures between 24 and 28 degrees move between the sun and clouds - a very pleasant weather for an event like the Travemünder Woche.
call for renovation and discussions
Meanwhile, the topic of renovation of the local ports remains on the agenda. The Ministry of Economic Affairs estimates the need for renovation at over one billion euros, with a list of 62 investment requests already being submitted in Berlin. The federal government has promised 400 million euros from the climate protection fund whether the funds can be used for the most urgent maintenance in the ports is still in the stars.
Last but not least, it is also a time of discussions. Prime Minister Daniel Günther predicts that the federal states will soon vote on the school holidays and considers a staggered holiday planning to be a clever step. For Schleswig-Holstein, it remains to be seen how the next few days will develop-whether the focus is on the renovation measures, or perhaps at the upcoming opening of the Karl May games in Bad Segeberg, which attracted over 100,000 visitors to the play "Halbblut". One thing is certain: there is always something going on here!
