Because Holstein Kiel has now started preparations for the coming season and said goodbye to an important member of the squad. 25-year-old Fiete Arp is leaving the club to play for Odense BK in Denmark. This decision has now been officially announced and raises many questions.
The responsible coach in Odense is Alexander Zorniger, who played a key role in Arp's transfer. He signed a three-year contract until June 30, 2028 and will wear the number 7 on his shirt. Zorniger highlights in the media that Arp is one of Germany's most promising talents and sees him as a player who adds an important facet to the team.
Arp's departure
During his time at Holstein Kiel, Fiete Arp made 95 competitive appearances, in which he scored 11 goals and provided 6 assists. His experience from 41 Bundesliga and 84 second division appearances will now benefit him in Denmark. Even though Arp had the opportunity to extend his contract in Kiel until 2026, he was looking for a new challenge. He described initial conversations with Odense as crucial to his decision to move to the north. “I’m looking forward to reaching the next level with Odense after promotion,” explained Arp during his introduction.
The transfer fee for Arp is in the lower six-figure range and amounts to around 250,000 euros. A sell-on clause was also included in the contract, which means that Kiel manager Olaf Rebbe could benefit from a possible transfer deal in the future. This clause could prove to be wise if Arp continues to attract attention and perform accordingly.
Further changes at Holstein Kiel
Arp is not the only player leaving Holstein Kiel this transfer period. Goalkeeper Thomas Dähne will also leave the club and move to 1860 Munich. Dähne, who came to Kiel from Wisla Plock in 2020, is seen as one of the players who can bring about a change in the goalkeeper position for economic reasons. Kiel manager Rebbe has already carried out an analysis of last season and plans to adjust the squad structure accordingly.
