Holstein Kiel strengthens U23 with three U19 talents for the Oberliga!

Holstein Kiel is preparing for the new season with momentum and a breath of fresh air. After relegation from the Regionalliga Nord, the club is highly motivated to take the next steps in the Oberliga Schleswig-Holstein. Part of this spirit of optimism is manifested in the integration of young talents from the U19 into the U23 team. How kn online reported that three new players have joined the squad: Ali Jamil, Tim Spieckermann and Veit Lückner. Mätthi Meyer, Henrie Müller-Kalthoff and Islam Matene are also moving from the U19 to the U23 and are looking forward to the challenges in the coming season.

The official preparation starts next Monday and the anticipation is palpable. “It is important to bring our own talents into the team,” says NLZ boss Dominic Peitz about the club’s strategy. He emphasizes that anchoring internal talent in the U23 plays a major role in bringing the club back to the top in the long term.

Integration of young players

Peitz also knows that the jump from junior to men's football is no walk in the park. Nevertheless, he is confident that the new U23 players will develop positively. Islam Matene's record is particularly interesting, having already attracted attention in the DFB youth league with seven goals in 19 games. The 18-year-old has been part of Holstein since the U9 and is an integral part of the squad as a homegrown player. His colleague Mätthi Meyer, who is also 18 years old and came to Kiel from SC Victoria Hamburg, also proved that he can set an offensive tone with four goals in the DFB youth league.

Henrie Müller-Kalthoff, the oldest of the group at 19 years old, also has his experience to offer. The goalkeeper, who was already training as the third goalkeeper for the U23s, played twelve games during his time with the U19s and has the necessary maturity. The challenge for all players: to master the transition to men's football and to establish themselves in the Flens Oberliga.

Talent development for the future

The issue of talent promotion is not just a concern of Holstein Kiel, but runs like a common thread through the entire football landscape. The DFB talent development program ensures that young players in all regions of Germany have the opportunity to be supported. With 339 bases and around 14,000 talented players, the DFB ensures that young footballers receive the best possible education. dfb.de highlights that additional training is offered weekly to develop the technical skills and creativity of the talent.

With a solid base of their own talents, a structured support policy and the will to develop together, the players of Holstein Kiel are looking forward to the new season with optimism. Those in charge are convinced that something great can emerge again in the coming season, and the talents raised can look forward to exciting challenges.
