Kiel Week 2025: Heat, rain and exciting poetry slams today!

Today, June 24th, 2025, Kiel Week is getting down to business! The first weekend of concerts is already over and the city has prepared for the second week. Sunday was anything but boring: While Álvaro Soler created a great atmosphere on the Förde stage, some fans had to struggle with the sweltering heat and had to receive medical care. Heavy thunderstorms and rain began when Dittsche and the princes performed. There are also signs of a change in the weather for today's events - according to NDR moderate temperatures of around 17 degrees are expected, but in the evening it could be showery with a chance of rain of 50 to 60 percent.

What's on the agenda today? One of the main attractions is the Kiel Week Slam, which starts at 8 p.m. in the Ratsdienergarten. An exciting slam duel will take place in advance in which the well-known Ulf Kampfer (SPD) competes against Janne Petersen-Feddersen. Both bring a lot of energy and passion, and viewers can look forward to a great format. Today's slam is a team slam special in which self-written texts are presented within six minutes. The audience decides the winner, and the teams are all top-class. There are, for example, the runners-up of the German-speaking Team Slam Championships 2022, the team Discount on Alien Accessories, or the finalists Team No Friends, to name just a few. And after a musical experience, your physical well-being should of course not be neglected! The International Market tempts with exotic delicacies. For example, there is Waakye from Ghana for 10 euros and a refreshing mango lassi from India for just 3.50 euros.

Sailing and weather forecasts

But it's not just the music events that attract people - sailing is also very popular. Sailing starts in Strander Bay from 11 a.m. and the award ceremonies are scheduled for 4 p.m. in the Schilksee Olympic Harbor. An absolute must for sports enthusiasts!
