Entrance to the Lübeck Theater closed: Danger from falling bricks!
The entrance to the Lübeck Theater is currently not accessible from the Beckergrube. The reason for this? There is an acute risk of roof tiles falling down. This important announcement creates excitement among the city's culture enthusiasts. Access to the performances is temporarily available via Fischergrube 21. The theater officials ask for your understanding while they work on a solution to the problem.
The current performances have not been cancelled, but will be continued under the new conditions. Admission begins three quarters of an hour before the start of the performance. The theater box office has now moved into the Lübecker Volksbühne office, which is located at Beckergrube 16 and is open from Tuesday to Friday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Unfortunately, barrier-free access to the theater is currently not possible, which requires renovation work for people with mobility restrictions.

In addition, students from Lübeck's three universities can enjoy free entry to the Lübeck Theater with their student ID. Advance sales are already in full swing for the coming season, with tickets for selected performances available as a thank you for €20.
The construction site at the Beckergrube
Another circumstance that influences the situation at the theater is the construction site at the Beckergrube, which has been in existence since October 15, 2024 and will probably remain partially closed to traffic until autumn 2026. These circumstances mean that accessibility to the theater continues to be a challenge.
Those responsible for the Lübeck Theater are optimistic and hope that the structural work will soon be completed so that the beautiful Art Nouveau building from 1908 can be fully accessible again.
