Nordic Film Days Lübeck 2025: Films that inspire and move!
The anticipation for the Nordic Film Days Lübeck is growing - from November 5th to 9th, 2025, film fans can look forward to an exciting program. This festival is a true highlight in the cultural calendar and the only one in Europe that focuses on works from the north and north-east of Europe. The latest trends and creative talents from Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden come together here. The Scene Hamburg reports that in addition to feature films, many exciting documentaries and short films will also be shown.
Another highlight is the comprehensive children's and youth film program, which makes it easier for younger viewers to access exciting Nordic stories. The festival also offers a lively exchange through numerous seminars, discussions and roundtables aimed at cinema lovers of all ages. The offering is supplemented by the “Film Forum” area, where talented filmmakers from northern Germany can present their works.
Diverse program and experiences
The Nordic Film Days Lübeck also includes innovative formats such as the “Immersion 360°” section, which has been established since 2022 and expanded the boundaries of classic cinema. One place to experience these new formats up close is the InfinityDome, where captivating projections and live performances await visitors. There are also special performances by the puppet theater KOLK 17, which deal with the Nordic and Baltic regions - also a great opportunity for the younger ones to discover something.
A large part of the appeal of the Nordic Film Days lies in the presentation of current works as well as the retrospective of important eras and personalities in film history. Numerous celebrated directors such as Bille August and Aki Kaurismäki have already presented their first works here and have thus become internationally recognized artists. It is a place for emerging talent and a showcase for new cinematic expressions.
