On January 17, 2026, the Holstenhallen in Neumünster shone in the festive splendor of the 25th anniversary of the Horse Lovers' Ball. This special event, organized by Schleswig-Holstein Equestrian Sports Association, attracted around 6,700 guests from various areas - an impressive number that shows how popular the event is in the horse scene. The first 1,500 tickets were sold out just 15 minutes after sales started in November 2022!
The ball, which was originally launched in 2000 by Antje and Dieter Stut and began as a millennium project, has developed into Germany's largest ball in the horse scene. The festive evening offered its guests a colorful program of dancing, high-quality entertainment and culinary delicacies, spread across several festively decorated halls.
Festive mood and honors
Particularly noteworthy is the honor given to Dieter Medow, chairman of the PSH, who received the Equestrian Cross in Gold from the German Equestrian Association (FN). The laudatory speech was given by Dr. Christiane Müller, board member of the FN, who praised Medow's commitment to the horse scene. Political representatives such as Prime Minister Daniel Günther and State Interior Minister Magdalena Finke did not miss this festive opportunity. Günther described the ball as one of the flagship events of the state of Schleswig-Holstein.
After the official opening, guests packed the dance floor in elegant evening dresses and tuxedos to party until the early hours of the morning. Live music, including a samba and jazz band as well as a karaoke bar, ensured a lively atmosphere. At the same time, the festive setting invited people to exchange ideas about new acquaintances and old friendships.
A good cause
A portion of ticket sales goes to a charitable cause, as the Advisory Board for Therapeutic Riding receives a donation. This combination of celebrations and social commitment underlines the values of the community that are the focus of the Horse Lovers' Ball.
Matthias Karstens, managing director of the PSH, was very positive about how the event went and has already announced the next ball for 2027. “We have a good knack for connecting generations here,” he says, praising the lively participation from agriculture, hunting, politics and business.
