Simone Pottmann becomes the new provost: A new beginning for Altholstein!

A change is coming in the heart of Neumünster that will bring a breath of fresh air to the Altholstein church district in the coming weeks. As the SHZ reports, Simone Pottmann will become the new provost of the Altholstein church district, succeeding Stefan Block. The 56-year-old has made a name for herself in her career as a pastor and vice-president of the Altholstein Synod and brings with her a wealth of experience.

The election took place on June 13th in a celebratory setting when the synod members gathered in the Bugenhagen Church. The service that marked the start of this important gathering was open to the public and attracted many interested people. Pottmann was recommended as a suitable candidate by the election preparation committee headed by Bishop Nora Steen. Steen emphasized her diverse experiences as a parish pastor, which Pottmann has gained in the Kaltenkirchen parish, where she has worked since 2010.

A living career

Simone Pottmann was born in the Rhineland and studied theology at the universities in Marburg, Wuppertal and Bochum. She began her career as a research assistant at the Ruhr University before working as a pastor in Essen. Before returning to Schleswig-Holstein, she lived with her husband in the Alveslohe rural pastorate, which is part of the Kaltenkirchen parish. The couple has two adult daughters together, which further underscores their commitment to family and the community.

Pottmann's official presentation will take place on May 18th at 11 a.m. in the Anscharkirche in Neumünster, where the community will have the opportunity to ask questions and start a conversation. It's a big step for her, and many are excited to see what impulses she will provide. In order to take over the office of provost, she needs at least 45 votes from a total of 88 members of the synod.

The future of the church in Altholstein

The election of Simone Pottmann as the new full-time official in Altholstein could be one of the decisive steps to realign the church in the region. Their many years of commitment and their numerous contacts in the church community could help to advance fresh ideas and concepts. The City magazine SH emphasizes that in her new role, Pottmann not only wants to take on the challenges of today, but also wants to preserve the strong traditions of the church district.

The coming weeks will now show how Pottmann will prove herself in her new role as provost. For many, she is already an enrichment and a source of hope for the Evangelical Lutheran community in northern Germany.
