Canoe school Bremerhaven triumphs at the Elephant Cup with 31 medals!

The 4th International Elephant Cup 2025 recently took place in Norderstedt, a judo tournament that offered an impressive setting with over 1,000 participants from 138 clubs. Judoka from Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Poland, Estonia and Finland competed against each other and showed their skills in different age groups.

The Kano Bremerhaven judo school was particularly outstanding, winning a total of 31 medals. The team won an impressive 13 gold, 8 silver and 10 bronze medals. This is not only a sign of the high training effort, but also underlines the continuous development of the Kano athletes in North German judo sport. The three fighters Ishan Dzhemaldinov, Zhannat Tashtamirova and Ruslan Becker alone each won two gold medals in different age groups (U15, U18, U21).

An exciting weekend

The competitions were divided into two days: On Saturday the athletes competed in the U9, U11, U18 and U21 age groups, while on Sunday it was the turn of the U13 and U15 age groups. The consistently positive response from the trainers and spectators shows that the Kano Bremerhaven judo school not only shows top form in sport, but also contributes to the community in judo sport.

Coach Gheorghe-Laurentiu Marin was proud of his protégés' successes. He emphasized that winning the challenge cup for the best club reflected not only the medals, but also the judoka's tireless commitment and discipline. “Today we proved once again that hard work and passion for sport are rewarded,” said Marin.

The path to success

For the Kano Bremerhaven judo school, this triumph is confirmation of its continuous development work in judo sport. The challenge cup for the best club, which the team in Norderstedt was able to take home, is another milestone in the club's success story. “We have a good knack for identifying talent and supporting young judoka,” concluded Marin. The Elephant Cup has once again shown that the sport of judo is flourishing in northern Germany.
