Next weekend there will be a lot going on at the Schulau Harbor in Wedel, because the harbor festival will take place from July 4th to 6th this year and celebrates two special occasions: the 24th edition of the festival and the 150th anniversary of Wedel's city charter. Preparations are already in full swing and the city can look forward to a varied program.

A very special highlight is the first seagull imitation competition, which will take place on Friday evening, July 4th. Here participants have the opportunity to present their best seagull cries and entertain the visitors. Whoever knows how to “shout” best will certainly have the laughs on their side. According to NDR, the event will be accompanied by well-known presenters such as Christopher Scheffelmeier, Horst Hoof and Henrik Hanses and will provide the best entertainment.

Cultural highlights and activities

But the harbor festival not only offers seagull solos, but also a packed program with many other highlights. Visitors can look forward to two stages with live music and a variety of activities. The particularly outstanding act on Saturday will be musician Michy Reincke and his band, who will give everything to heat up the party atmosphere.

In addition, a “water world” will be created in which water sports and play opportunities provide maritime enthusiasm. The “sports and culture world” attracts visitors with a variety of performances, and there are also numerous stalls and rides available to put a smile on the faces of visitors young and old.

Another highlight is the 5th Lions Duck Race, which provides exciting competitions and in which the participating ducks race for victory. The program is rounded off with harbor tours, during which visitors can take a journey back in time into the history of the city.

While the harbor festival is celebrated in Wedel, a large maritime event, the harbor days, also takes place in the neighboring town of Wolgast. These run parallel from July 4th to 6th and offer an extensive program with live music, rescue exercises and ship tours. A lively hustle and bustle on the water ensures that the region is under the sign of maritime culture during this weekend.
