Sting and Fanta Vier rock Kiel: How to get to the gig!
A grandiose music event is coming to Kiel: On June 13, 2025, the Nordmarksportfeld will be the scene of a spectacle that will not only make the hearts of music lovers beat faster, but will also make the city the pulse of culture again a week later as part of Kiel Week. Around 33,000 fans are expected to attend the performances of international superstars Sting and the legendary Fantastischen Vier. The anticipation is already palpable NDR reported.
Sting, who was born Gordon Sumner, will take the stage on June 14th at 7:30 p.m. This 17-time Grammy Award winner made music history with hits like “Every Breath You Take” and “Roxanne.” In Kiel he will be supported by the two familiar musicians Chris Maas on drums and Dominic Miller on guitar as part of his impressive “Sting 3.0” tour, which presents his greatest successes in a new light. The concert takes place as part of the renowned Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival (SHMF), which offers top-class concerts on the same weekend. On the following evening, June 15th, fans can look forward to the Fantastischen Vier, who have a music history spanning over 40 years and hits like “Die da!?!” and “She’s gone.”
Special features of the event
The Fantastischen Vier concert will not only be a nostalgic look back at old hits, but also a homage to the musical roots, as singer Smudo emphasizes, who is proud to play on “holy ground”. But the travel options also deserve attention!
Parking options at Nordmarksportfeld are limited. We therefore recommend traveling by public transport. An exciting detail for ticket holders: The concert ticket also works as a bus and train ticket within the tariff zones 4000 Kiel and 3130 Schilksee. The KVG's newly established special bus line X22, which connects Kiel main station directly with the event location, is particularly practical. Departure is at the train station from bus platform B1.
Weather forecast and Kiel Week
But what about the weather? Sunny and warm temperatures around 23 degrees are forecast for Saturday, June 14th. On the following Sunday, however, it could be rainy, with cooler evening temperatures, but no thunderstorms, which should not dampen the joy of the concert.
A celebratory mood runs through the entire event weekend, which culminates in time for Kiel Week. From June 21st to 29th there will be additional transport options for visitors to enjoy the full cultural program in the state capital.
All musical enthusiasts also have the opportunity to take part in the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Choir. Since its founding in 2014, this has developed under the leadership of Dr. Christian Kuhnt established itself as a platform for ambitious choir singers and developed ambitious projects. Maybe to inspire future concert visits - after all, who knows when the next big performance will be.
