A big drama took place today on the B75 federal highway between Bremen-Huchting and Delmenhorst. At around 5:50 p.m., a fire broke out in a tractor-trailer that was loaded with leftover paint. The truck, which was traveling from Delmenhorst towards the city center, lost control due to a burst tire. The driver was able to successfully brake in the right lane, but when he noticed the emerging flames, his attempt to fight it with a fire extinguisher failed.
A blessing in disguise: the driver managed to uncouple the tractor and bring it to safety while a large column of smoke rose into the sky. The alerted fire department was quickly on site - over 30 emergency services went to work to extinguish the flames with a water cannon. Traffic problems and closures
Although the fire brigade was able to successfully extinguish the fire, the closure of the B75 caused significant traffic problems in the region. Traffic in the direction of Bremen is expected to be reopened in the early afternoon, while traffic in the direction of Delmenhorst cannot take place until the late afternoon. In order to make the road passable again for the accident and clean-up work, the police are redirecting traffic towards Bremen from the B75 before the Stickgras exit.
For commuters and residents, this means they have to be prepared for delays and traffic jams. As Weser Kurier reports, the route into the city will remain closed until the embers have been completely removed. To avoid further risks, it was necessary to empty the trailer by hand. But fortunately there are no injuries to report, which is a small ray of hope in such situations.
Another incident added to the traffic problems on Tuesday morning when a truck plowed into a car, injuring a motorist. This series of accidents once again shows how important attention and care are in road traffic - especially on the busy roads around Bremen.
