Supermarket robbery in Bremen: perpetrator attacks cashier with knife!

On the evening of July 12, 2025, a dramatic attack on a supermarket in Bremen-Burglesum occurred. At around 7:40 p.m., an unknown perpetrator entered the market on Am Heidbergstift street and threatened a 22-year-old cashier with a knife. According to Bild.de, the perpetrator loudly demanded that money be handed over and disappeared with a cash box.

An attentive witness observed the perpetrator fleeing towards a nearby cul-de-sac. The Bremen police have now started the investigation and are urgently looking for further witnesses who can provide information about the identity of the perpetrator. According to Presseportal.de the perpetrator can be described as follows: He is said to be around 18 to 20 years old and around 170 cm tall. He also wore a beige cap, black Nike sneakers and a black scarf that covered his mouth. His long, braided black hair and bushy eyebrows are also striking.

Current situation of violent crime

The attack on the supermarket is part of the changing crime situation in Germany. Although violent crimes represent less than 4% of all crimes recorded by the police, their impact on the population's sense of security is enormous. As [Statista](https://de.statista.com/themen/11062/ criminalitaet-in-deutschland-violentcrime/) reports, around 217,000 violent crimes were registered in 2024, which is the highest number since 2007. The statistics about young violent perpetrators are particularly alarming: almost a third of the suspects are under 21 years old.

The police have successfully investigated more than three-quarters of violent crime cases. Nevertheless, the feeling of insecurity remains for many people. The reasons for the increase in violent crime could be economic uncertainty, social pressures and the consequences of the Corona measures. A survey from May 2024 shows that 94% of Germans see violence against people from politics, the police and emergency services as a major problem.

The Bremen police are asking anyone who has information about the attack to call 0421 362-3888. Perhaps committed citizens can help solve this incident and catch the perpetrator.
