Cultural roots and influences

Georgia, located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, has a rich cultural heritage. The country's music and dance have developed over centuries and combine ancient customs with modern expressions. Historical influences such as Christian liturgy, pre-Christian folk music and influences from Persia, Byzantium and the Ottoman Empire have shaped Georgian musical culture. Particularly noteworthy are musical genres such as Kakheti music, represented by the famous song Chakrulo, and the unique Svanetic music, which captivates with its ancient harmonies.

The tradition of Georgian instruments, such as the panduri used for plucking or the soft-sounding salamuri, also plays an important role in the development of the music. The combination of song and dance, including the romantic Kartuli or the powerful Khorumi, impressively shows the diversity of Georgian culture.
