Cyclassics 2025: Hamburg stands still – an overview of all road closures!
On Sunday, August 17, 2025, Hamburg will once again become the cycling capital when the Cyclassics will be held for the 28th time. With over 10,000 participants, including numerous professional and amateur riders, the event not only promises top sporting achievements, but also a big celebration for all cycling enthusiasts. But it will be a challenge for residents on this day: numerous streets will be closed and significant traffic disruptions are expected. As bild.de reports, the closures begin on Friday evening and extend until Monday morning.
Mönckebergstrasse, in the heart of the city, will be completely closed from Friday 9 p.m. to Monday 6 a.m. Other central streets such as Große Johannisstrasse and Alsterglacis are also affected by racing. A closer look at the blocking times shows:

In addition, traffic disruptions are also to be expected in the neighboring districts and even in parts of Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein. A festival for sports enthusiasts
The race itself starts at 12 p.m. on the market square in Buxtehude. Hobby riders have the choice between two routes of 60 and 110 kilometers. The professionals, including well-known names such as Jonathan Milan and Pascal Ackermann, drive a demanding route of 207 kilometers. The spectators can cheer along while the top riders sprint from the Köhlbrand Bridge across the Hafencity and the city center to the finish on Mönckebergstrasse.
The Cyclassics are not only a highlight for the athletes, but also for the numerous fans who gather along the route to cheer on the cyclists. The event will be broadcast live on television via NDR and Eurosport. If you prefer to stream, you can also watch the race on DAZN. The broadcast begins at 3:30 p.m., while NDR starts reporting at 3:15 p.m., as [suederelbe24.de](https://suederelbe24.de/cyclassics-2025-strassensperrungen-und-verkehrsbehinderungen-in-hamburg-und- surroundings/) reports.
