FC St. Pauli sweeps Grün-Weiß Firrel off the pitch 10-0!

Now it's official: FC St. Pauli won its first friendly of the season with an impressive 10-0 win against Grün-Weiß Firrel. In the Aurich stadium, the kickers around coach Fabian Hürzeler really left nothing to be desired this Sunday and showed from the start that preparations for the new season are already in full swing. The goals came quickly, with Scott Banks scoring the first goal in the 8th minute. Things continued lively: Fin Stevens increased the score to 2-0 in the 12th minute, followed by Mathias Pereira Lage in the 30th minute. The second half was dominated by Ricky-Jade Jones, who scored twice (49th and 90th minutes). David Nemeth (61st minute), Danel Sinani (65th minute), Maurides (68th minute), Oladapo Afolayan (70th minute) and James Sands (75th minute) also got on the scoresheet. A clear start for St. Pauli, which makes the fans positive. Again kicker reports that the team is highly motivated.

But it's not just football that's causing excitement in Hamburg. On Sunday night, four cars burned in a parking lot in Altona and the police suspect arson. The incident happened on Jessenstrasse, not far from the Ikea store. Such incidents cast an unpleasant light on security in the city.

Crime statistics

However, the security situation in Hamburg is also receiving positive news. According to the 2024 police crime statistics, which were presented on February 13, 2025, crimes overall fell by 4 percent to 224,913. What is particularly encouraging is the decline in murder and manslaughter crimes, which have almost halved - with only 40 cases registered. The clearance rate is 47.9 percent, which represents a stable basis for further security work.

Particularly attentive readers may have noticed that there has been an opposite development when it comes to violent crime in St. Pauli. There was a significant increase of 7 percent, particularly in robbery crimes. Such circumstances explain the increased police presence in the St. Georg district and around the main train station. In view of these developments, both the police chief and the interior senator emphasized the need to continue security measures.

Finally, it remains to be hoped that FC St. Pauli's positive sporting results will not be tarnished by the tense security situation in some parts of the city. On the one hand, a football club that is preparing for a successful start to the season, and on the other hand, a police force that is fighting for the safety of its citizens. The coming time will show how these two aspects will develop.
