Photo art and local flair: exhibition shows 27 shops in Eimsbüttel!

The city of Eimsbüttel is celebrating with a very special photography exhibition that captures the soul of small, owner-managed shops around Osterstrasse. The talented photographer Frederika Hoffmann shows the company histories of 27 local businesses in their impressive photographs, recorded between 1999 and 2025. The vernissage will take place today, September 3rd at 6 p.m. in the Kreativhaus Eimsbüttel, Eppendorfer Weg 127, and will allow visitors to take a first look at the impressive works.

The exhibition is part of the celebrations of Eimsbüttel's 750th anniversary and will be on view until September 20th. Anyone interested can view the photographs free of charge from Wednesday to Sunday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. This gives everyone the opportunity to immerse themselves in the city's diverse and lively culture and discover the stories behind the shops.

Insights into the world of the owners

In times when large chains dominate, the appreciation for small shops comes into focus. Hoffmann's photographs not only depict the shops themselves, but also show their owners and the personal stories that connect them to their companies. How much the local businesses care about it becomes clear when you look at the pictures - there really is something there!

But this exhibition is not just a homage to the shops on Osterstrasse. Like on the platform Eimsbüttel shows attitude described, it is also a sign of the community's commitment to local development and democratic values. It is a celebration of diversity and neighborhood identity.

Why photographs inspire

Photography is more than a hobby - it is a passion that inspires people all over the world. As in World charms reports, there are numerous places in Hamburg where photography is the focus. From the impressive temporary exhibitions in the House of Photography to the creative projects in museums – there is a lot to discover and learn.

Photography fans will also appreciate the opportunity to take part in various workshops or network with like-minded people. Whether in galleries, museums or at special events such as the Triennale of Photography in September 2026 - the Hamburg scene is lively and inviting.

Frederika Hoffmann's exhibition not only offers a look at the small shops, but also leads to a deeper understanding of the cultural diversity of our city. A visit is not only worthwhile, but also a good opportunity to support the neighborhood and its entrepreneurs. Save the date and let yourself be inspired!
