HSV youth in focus: Cup final and start of the U21 season are approaching!

Next Saturday, June 14, 2025, Hamburg's football scene will be very busy. The U12 and U15 of Hamburger SV are in the cup final of the Hamburg Junior Cup. While the U12 will compete against TSV Sasel, the U15 will fight in the city derby against FC St. Pauli. These games promise exciting duels on the pitch and a burning interest from the fans.

But these are not the only highlights in the coming week. On Sunday, June 15th, the HSV U11 has a game scheduled against USC Paloma. The U21s in particular will prepare for the new challenges of the 2025/26 season from Monday, June 16th. Head coach Lukas Pfeiffer will welcome his team to their first training session this Wednesday, June 18th.

The new season of the women's Bundesliga

Hamburger SV recently achieved another significant success. The club has received the license to participate in the Google Pixel Women's Bundesliga for the 2025/26 season. This means that the HSV women can compete in a league that will be expanded to 14 teams. There is great joy about this success, as the Hamburg team will be promoted to the Bundesliga alongside 1. FC Union Berlin and 1. FC Nürnberg. The league starts on September 6th, 2025 with the opening game between FC Bayern Munich and Bayer 04 Leverkusen at the Allianz Arena, while the final matchday will be played on May 17th, 2026.

But that's not all. The HSV women had already received a license to participate in the 2nd women's Bundesliga for the 2024/25 season. The official announcement of this good news was made by the German Football Association (DFB). SV 67 Weinberg remains in twelfth place in the 2nd Women's Bundesliga, while MSV Duisburg has withdrawn its application for the second division after being relegated from the Google Pixel Bundesliga. The new season will open with the first round of the DFB Cup between August 17th and 19th, with the draw taking place on June 27th.

A look into the future of women's football

This upswing in women's football is part of a larger plan that the DFB Executive Board approved in 2021. The “Strategy Women in Football FF27” aims to double the media reach of women's football and increase the proportion of women in responsible positions at the DFB to at least 30 percent. It is expected that the number of active players, coaches and referees will increase by 25 percent. The HSV women are part of this change and are actively contributing to these goals (see also dfb.de).

The HSV women are facing an exciting time in which they can prove themselves against national and international competitors. With a strong team and a committed club management, all the prerequisites are in place to be successful in the coming competition.

The coming week will bring a lot of excitement for the players and fans of Hamburger SV. The entire community is excited about the games and looking forward to seeing how the teams perform in the competition!
