Payam Yazdani receives Boy Gobert Prize at Thalia Theater!

On December 7, 2025, talented actor Payam Yazdani was awarded the prestigious Boy Gobert Award. The celebratory award ceremony took place in the impressive Thalia Theater in Hamburg, where the board member from the Körber Foundation Eva Nemela presented the prize. The award, which is endowed with 10,000 euros, has been given to outstanding young actors for more than 40 years and is one of the most prestigious prizes in German theater.

Yazdani, who was born in Hamburg in 1994, impressed the jury with his versatility and his genuine interest in his roles. Klaus Schumacher, the artistic director of the Junges Schauspielhaus in Hamburg, praised Yazdani in his laudatory speech and mentioned his impressive achievements, especially his leading role in “Krabat”. The director of the Thalia Theater, Sonja Anders, and Carsten Brosda, the Hamburg Senator for Culture and Media, also praised the actor for his wit and power on stage.

A rising star

Yazdani was an ensemble member at the Junges Schauspielhaus Hamburg until the summer of 2025, before moving to the ensemble at the Schauspielhaus Bochum in autumn 2025. He completed his acting training at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, where he already won a solo prize. Yazdani has made a name for himself through his appearances in impressive plays, including “Out of Nothing,” which deals with the NSU murders. He currently commutes between Hamburg and Bochum and remains active as a guest performer at the Junges Schauspielhaus.

From the first steps of his career to the current success story, Yazdani began when a teacher approached him and he joined a theater group. He had previously studied business administration and, at the same time, gained his first theater experiences in youth clubs. The jury particularly emphasized his talent for both inspiring and touching the audience.

Successes on the television stage

In addition to his theater appearances, Yazdani is also present on television. He plays a central role in the popular series “The Discounters”, which is starting its fourth season. The combination of stage and television presence makes him one of the most sought-after young talents in the industry.

With the Boy Gobert Prize, Yazdani not only receives great recognition for his past achievements, but also significant support for his future career in the theater. Personalities such as Catrin Striebeck, the jury chairwoman of the Boy Gobert Prize, and other members of the jury are convinced that Yazdani will celebrate many more successes.

All I can say is: We can look forward to every new chapter in Payam Yazdani's impressive career!
