Jannik Robatsch: The exciting new signing at FC St. Pauli!
A breath of fresh air is blowing at FC St. Pauli. Jannik Robatsch, only 20 years old and already on the verge of greatness, set off from Klagenfurt to Hamburg in the summer. Equipped with the jersey number 34, the young central defender doesn't think about just filling the space - he wants to play his way to the top. For the fans, this may soon mean new hope in defense.
After a promising first impression, Robatsch talks about his first experiences in the Hanseatic city. He likes Hamburg - a beautiful city that he already feels like his new home, even if he initially misses his home, his family and friends. However, he will be even more committed on the pitch in order to leave the previous playing style from Klagenfurt behind him. While there they relied on long balls, at St. Pauli an understanding of the game and technical finesse are required. This is where it gets exciting to see how Robatsch rises.
From Klagenfurt to Hamburg
The move from Austria Klagenfurt was no coincidence. Robatsch, who found his way in men's football at the age of 15 and played 41 games in the Austrian Bundesliga - also scoring two goals - took the plunge to prove himself in the turbulent Bundesliga. “I’m looking forward to working with new teammates,” said Robatsch, who also brings in his experience from 5 ÖFB Cup matches.
His sporting career sounds promising: he made his debut for the Austrian U21 national team in March. Sports director Andreas Bornemann and coach Alexander Blessin emphasize that Robatsch has a certain potential, as both his physical abilities and his courage should help him quickly get used to the pace and style of play in Germany.
Training camp and new challenges
Robatsch is already hard at work at the training camp in Flachau. He has overcome his annoying Achilles tendon problems and is highly motivated to take the next steps. “I want to become more courageous when playing with the ball and improve my defensive work,” he explains. In the left position of the three-man chain he will compete with Karol Mets and Lars Ritzka, a clear competition that presents new challenges.
Robatsch chose jersey number 34 because he first wants to earn the traditional numbers 3 or 4. This decision shows his fighting spirit and willingness to fight for an important role in the team. “The boys explained to me early on where I could fit in,” he says, reflecting the expectations of those in charge.
The coming time will show whether Jannik Robatsch has what it takes to become a big player at FC St. Pauli. With his tireless ambition and the support of his new teammates, he could soon cause a sensation in the Bundesliga.
