Anklam young footballer: experiences and victories at the Edis Cup!

The Edis Cup of FSV Malchin was the highlight of the last few days for the Anklamer DI youth. The young kickers showed off their skills in a tournament that was not only characterized by exciting games, but also by encounters with stronger and physically superior opponents. Despite the challenges, the team managed to hold its own with three draws and three defeats, ultimately securing sixth place. Coach Reinhard Lüdemann was very satisfied with the performance of his protégés, especially since they were playing in this configuration for the first time. The performance of the four newcomers, who integrated seamlessly into the team, was particularly positive.

Experienced players such as Emil Peter, Carlo Lenz, Luka Schiller and Anton Lohmann, who became the team's top scorer with five goals, provided valuable impetus on the pitch. The tournament was won by the first team of FSV Malchin, followed by Güstrower SC and SV Traktor Dargun. The other teams – FSV Malchin II, FSV Blau-Weiß Greifswald, VFC Anklam and SV Teterow – also showed appealing performances, but the Anklam team were able to gain valuable insights from their first experiences. This type of competition is extremely important for young players to develop and promote team spirit. A message that will particularly benefit the VFC Anklam club, where, in addition to football, athletics also play a central role.

Athletics as a foundation

The VFC Anklam not only houses a dedicated football department, but also an active athletics group. This sport is considered to have the most active athletes in the world and offers an excellent basis for many other sports. In the athletics department, emphasis is placed on comprehensive basic motor training, which not only gives children and young people fun, but also a valuable basis for their sporting future.

The wide range of athletics on offer reflects the diversity of disciplines and at the same time promotes values such as tolerance and fair play. Recreational and competitive sports complement each other in the department, so that everyone interested can find their place. The activities here are particularly designed to develop young people both physically and personally and to give them the opportunity to engage in sports through athletics. This orientation is also reflected in the current discourse on children and youth sports, which is discussed in publications such as the “Third German Children and Youth Sports Report”. The developments documented therein are important for clubs and coaches to further improve sports structures and enable children to have a healthy sporting career.

All in all, it can be said that the young athletes from Anklam are on a promising path. The commitment of coaches and club members is obvious, and it remains exciting to see what successes still await the young athletes in both football and athletics.
