Modern fire brigade house opened in Loitz - a blessing for the community!
Loitz, Deutschland - On June 16, 2025, the time had finally come: The inauguration of the new fire station in Loitz was duly celebrated with many highlights. Almost a year of construction, which began at the end of February 2024 and resulted in the last acceptance in April 2025, brought a modern home for the fire brigade. In terms of cost, the project is around 4.5 million euros, whereby more than 3.8 million euros could be secured via funding: 3.4 million euros from the state and 440,000 euros from the district. The city contributed 700,000 euros as an own fund.
At the ceremonial inauguration, which attracted numerous fences, weirs from the Peenetal/Loitz/partner city of Hiddenhausen were also represented. Speeches were held, among others, by State Secretary Wolfgang Schmülling, the state politician Franz-Robert Liskow, the deputy district administrator Dietger Wille and the mayor Christin Witt. The mayor was visibly proud and thanked the executing companies as well as the administration, especially Ute Krüger from the building office and Enrico Vogel, the treasurer.
blessing and new technology
A special highlight of the event was the blessing of the modern fire truck (LF 20) by Pastor Friederike Grube. This vehicle, which is located in the garage of the new tool shed, also had a stately price with around 480,000 euros. Around 365,000 euros were funded by the state and the district, while the city took over 118,000 euros. This not only brought the equipment up to date, but also the safety of the firefighters.
An open day gave visitors the opportunity to visit the new premises and to find out more about the modern equipment. A children's program ensured entertainment as well as the gastronomic catering, which was organized with the support of the Evangelical day care center and the Kruckow-Schmarsow volunteer fire brigade.
Financial promotion of fire station
The need for new fire brigade houses and the associated equipment are an increasingly present topic in the public discussion. Many volunteers are entitled to safe and suitable operations centers, but construction projects often fail due to financial bottlenecks. The establishment of a new fire station, such as in Loitz, not only requires a good hand when planning, but also the right funding options that are available in many German federal states. These include financial aid by the federal government and the countries, which ensure that fire brigade houses can correspond to the legal obligations to ensure security for emergency services and citizens. To financial support for the equipment and the construction of fire brigade houses in rural areas.
The day in Loitz has shown that volunteer work and the cooperation between municipalities and fire brigades pay off. Together, an important step in improving the operating conditions and ensuring that the fire will be secured was taken. The fire brigade in Loitz now not only has the latest technology available, but also space for a lively communal coexistence.
