Philipp Amthor gives up his mandate in the district council – his successor has been chosen!

After the early election of the Bundestag in February 2025, Philipp Amthor from the CDU can not only demonstrate a good run as a politician, but has also taken on a significant role in the new federal government. Amthor is now Parliamentary State Secretary in the newly founded Ministry for Digital Affairs and State Modernization, which is headed by Dr. Karsten Wildberger is the new Federal Minister.

But Amthor did not achieve this rise without costs. How Northern Courier reports, he is giving up his mandate in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district council. However, this is not surprising, because in the past he had already given up his posts as general secretary of the state CDU and as district leader in the region in order to fully concentrate on his new tasks.

A change that works

Amthor, who is only 32 years old and a member of the Bundestag from Ueckermünde, had his appointment as parliamentary state secretary in the Ministry for Digitalization and State Modernization confirmed. This happened during a solemn ceremony in the library of the German Bundestag, at which Thomas Jarzombek was also sworn in as another parliamentary state secretary. Loud BMD Both state secretaries support Dr. Wildberger in the areas of digital transformation and reducing bureaucracy.

Philipp Amthor brings a lot of experience to his new position. Before his appointment, he was spokesman for state organization and modernization for the Union parliamentary group. This means he can draw on a deep understanding of the current challenges in government.

Diverse tasks

His central tasks in the new office concern the modernization of state structures and the reduction of bureaucracy. Amthor has been leading the working group that pushed this issue forward during the coalition negotiations between the CDU and SPD for some time. The CDU state chairman Daniel Peters was pleased with Amthor's position and emphasized the urgency of the issue of reducing bureaucracy for the future of administration in Germany.

In addition, Amthor announced on May 7, 2025 that he would resign his mandate in the district council, which means that his seat will be handed over to the successor Kathleen Fleck from Ueckermünde. However, Robert Kriewitz, who was also entitled to the mandate according to the list election results, decided not to do so.

Philipp Amthor is therefore on a promising path to shaping Germany's digital landscape and at the same time modernizing the old administrative structures. With a strong focus on reducing bureaucracy, his mission could help not only digital transformation, but also a more citizen-friendly administration.

The next few months are likely to be full of exciting challenges and opportunities for Amthor and his team - and we can't wait to see how the new ministry develops under him and Dr. Wildberger's leadership will develop.
