Boots singing in Lindenberg: A celebration of community on St. Nicholas Day!
The traditionally popular boot singing will take place in the tranquil church in Lindenberg on Saturday, December 6th. The event, which begins at 2 p.m., is organized by the local parish and kindergarten and is part of the region's important Living Advent Calendar. This calendar exists to make the 24 days until Christmas festive and to promote community. People meet in different places to share joy and get together in the run-up to Christmas.
For the boot singing, parents and grandparents are welcome to bring a boot for each child, filled with delicious sweets. These boots are placed at the altar before singing so that songs can be sung together afterwards. Church musician Dennis Rose will lead the program as musical director. He will ensure that the sounds of Advent songs resound through the church and make the atmosphere festive.
Community and support
A highlight after the singing is the mulled wine stand, which is organized by ladies from the Demmin Hospice Association. Here, visitors can end the day with a warm drink and delicious lard sandwiches and do something good at the same time. The proceeds from this campaign go directly to hospice work, which not only benefits the visitors but also those affected. Early registration is recommended as the event should start on time and seats are limited.
The Living Advent Calendar itself offers much more than just boot singing. He invites people to come together for 20 to 30 minutes on different days - be it at windows, doors or garage doors. Activities include singing, storytelling and contemplative words. The focus here is on joy and community, and the diversity of hosts – from families to clubs to school communities – makes the time leading up to Christmas particularly harmonious.
The motto is simply to be there and enjoy. It is not necessary for everyone to sing or speak. The theme behind each “window” creates a wonderful connection between people and promotes good cooperation in the community. Anyone who is interested in hosting an event themselves or taking part in the celebrations can find out more via the community platforms or the website of the respective parish. In order to create a special atmosphere during Advent, the doors and windows are often festively decorated and invite you to stop by.
Enjoy the anticipation of Christmas and be part of this beautiful tradition. The Boot Singing and the Living Advent Calendar offer a wonderful opportunity to meet each other in the cold season and experience the warmth of community together.
