VFC Anklam presents mascot Otto” – the beaver for good team spirit!
There was recently a celebratory occasion at the Werner Seelenbinder Stadium in Anklam: VFC Anklam presented its new mascot. “Otto” is the name of the fluffy beaver mascot, who not only has a big smile, but is also supposed to win the hearts of football fans. With this new addition, the VFC is pursuing the goal of boosting the atmosphere at home games, youth tournaments and club festivals. The Society for Real Estate and Housing Management (GWA) sponsored the mascot and thus made a great gift to the association, as Nordkurier reports.
“Otto” symbolizes team spirit, commitment and the special solidarity within the club. The name is a special homage to the aviation pioneer Otto Lilienthal, who was born in Anklam. Andreas Meenke, GWA's marketing manager, was not only responsible for the idea, but also for the implementation of the cuddly beaver costume. The official handover took place together with VFC club president Jörg Hasselmann, GWA managing director Jens Kiel and the young footballers from the F-Youth as well as the Bambinis.
Mascot with heart and charm
Mascots are common in sports and serve numerous functions. They are intended to bring good luck, represent the club and strengthen the connection between athletes and fans. “Otto” will not only entertain the spectators in the stadium, but also ensure a good mood at youth tournaments and club celebrations. This type of commitment is particularly important for creating a lively club life and can make a significant contribution to bringing fans and players even closer together. This is a goal that other sports clubs are also striving for, as you can read in fragen-ans-netz.de.
In Germany, the use of mascots like “Otto” is widespread. Well-known examples are eagle Attila from Eintracht Frankfurt, Dino Hermann from Hamburger SV and the billy goat Hennes from 1. FC Köln. Most of these mascots are designed in large costumes, with the days of real animals in sports gradually dwindling as financial and insurance hurdles often make the use of live animals difficult.
With “Otto”, VFC Anklam has created a warm and energetic character who will create enthusiasm both at major events and in the club’s everyday operations. This mascot not only brings some joy to the stands, but also stands for cohesion and team player qualities, which are of great importance in everyday club life.
