Construction site offensive 2026: Drivers in MV face major challenges!

The year 2026 will be a real test of nerves for drivers in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. As [nordkurier.de](https://www.nordkurier.de/regional/mecklenburg-vorpommern/2026-koennte-zur-nervenprobe-fuer-autofahrer-in-mv- Werden-4128178) reports, road users have to adapt to numerous new construction sites. At least twelve road sections are planned to be renewed in the coming months. The A14, A19, A20 and A24 motorways are particularly affected, where a total of over 26 kilometers of renovation work is pending.

In total, the costs for the renovation work amount to an impressive 52 million euros. The A20 is expected to be one of the most affected routes, with four construction sites, including between Rostock and Sanitz. At least two construction sites are planned on the A19, including strengthening an important bridge near Linstow. The A24 is not spared either; follow-up work is necessary at five construction sites, which includes, among other things, road renewal towards Hamburg and bridge renovations.

Construction site management and information system

The increasing load on the German motorway network makes effective construction site management essential. The Federal Ministry of Transport sets guidelines to ensure economic and organizational planning. bmv.de informs that the planning of construction sites is carried out by the federal Autobahn GmbH, which acts on behalf of the ministry.

In addition, CDU state parliament member Sabine Enseleit is calling for modern construction site management in order to better coordinate construction work. Here the state is focusing on expanding the construction site information system, which will also be expanded to other districts from the beginning of 2026. In the future, drivers will be able to be better informed and plan their journeys better.
