The successful ARD film series “Praxis mit Meerblick” has enjoyed great popularity since its premiere in 2017. This charming series is about the doctor Nora Kaminski, who, after a career as a cruise doctor, dares to make a new start on the picturesque Baltic Sea island of Rügen. So far, 26 episodes have already been produced, which not only tell exciting stories, but also present the island's breathtaking landscapes. The special setting is lovingly documented by joyn.at.
The new episodes, which were filmed between August and October 2024, show the diversity of Rügen - from the impressive chalk cliffs to lively harbor towns to the fine sandy beaches. The most important filming locations include Sassnitz, Binz and Bergen, all of which contribute to the unique atmosphere.
In the heart of Rügen
The central filming location, the “Joint Practice Dr. Freese & Nora Kaminski”, is made up of two buildings: exterior shots were shot at Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße 6 in Sassnitz, while the interior shots are in a holiday apartment. The real island hospital in Bergen also plays a role in the series, supplemented by exterior shots filmed in Stralsund, specifically at Hospital West.
Particularly interesting is the role of Peers Apartment, Nora's ex-husband, which was filmed in Prora, a historic district of Binz. Prora, originally built as a Nazi complex in the 1930s, has now been converted into modern holiday apartments and offers a fascinating contrast to the contemporary plot.
Drama on the water
One of the most exciting episodes is entitled “Practice with a sea view – Rügen stubborn people”. Here Nora is surprised by a new love for Max, which leads to a dramatic situation. During a boat trip, the captain loses consciousness, and Nora, who proves herself in her role as a doctor, provides first aid and insists on a thorough examination. This reveals frightening health problems that make the dramatic plot all the more captivating.
