Eggolsheim artist Michaela Schwarzmann inspires with fragile paper works

The cultural landscape of our region is enriched by the creative work of artists who inspire with their unique style. An example of this is the talented artist Michaela Schwarzmann from Eggolsheim, who is currently presenting her works at Thomas Binz. But what makes this exhibition so special?

As the NN reports, the exhibition shows fragile works of art that are mainly made of paper [NN]. These works are not only aesthetically appealing, but also have a regional or contemporary historical reference. Schwarzmann, winner of the NN Art Prize, brings new light to the medium of paper.

Art with paper: More than just a material

Michaela Schwarzmann learned her craft at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg and can look back on an exciting career. Born in the Bamberg district, she now lives and works in Eggolsheim. Her training at the porcelain technical school in Selb between 1985 and 1989 gave her additional knowledge in design.

The opening of the current exhibition took place on October 5, 2025 in the Rosenthal Theater in Selb and was a complete success [Hochfranken Live]. Her main medium, paper, is processed using a cutting technique that creates relief-like surfaces. This makes their bodies appear weightless and fragile; they often hang on fine threads, which impressively emphasizes the play of light and shadow.
