A touch of Hollywood is currently blowing through Western Pomerania, as the ARD film “With Heart and Hilde” will be broadcast on December 5th at 8:15 p.m. The comedy is the sequel to “McLenBurger – 100% Home” and brings the beloved characters back to the screen. Lead actors Martin Brambach and Steffi Kühnert are happy to once again entertain viewers with stories about the problems in the canteen and the marriage of entrepreneur Hilde Bornowski. Nordkurier reports that filming took place from January 30th to February 28th, 2024 in Pasewalk and other idyllic places in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district.
Where exactly was it filmed? Scenes were captured on film, including at the grain silo on Bundesstrasse 109 and in the parking lot at the arcade on Bahnhofstrasse. A multi-purpose building from GDR times served as a culinary backdrop that functioned as a fictitious fast food restaurant. Steffi Kühnert particularly appreciated the quiet atmosphere of the small town, and there are even personal connections: Kühnert bought a property in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in 2023, where she devotes herself passionately to the garden and the kitchen.
A look behind the scenes
The plot of the film revolves around the entrepreneur Hilde, who is mercilessly confronted with challenges not only in her canteen, but also in her marriage. This happens when an unknown woman searches for her father, Ronnie Bornowski. The son Tommie, played by Lasse Myhr, accuses his mother Hilde of no longer having the best hand in her own canteen. The family conflict unfolds in an exciting mix of drama and comedy.
The film crew's experience was rounded off by staying at a charming hotel, the Schlosshotel Krugsdorf, while they worked in the region. “Western Pomerania has developed into a sought-after filming location in recent years,” states the Filmförder MV and underlines the large number of productions that have already been created here.
A versatile filming location
Did you know that Western Pomerania is not only known through comedies? More serious projects, such as documentaries and international film festivals, have also been realized in the region. Filmmakers benefit from the cultural support provided by the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Cultural Film Fund, which has launched a large number of projects. This can be seen, for example, in films such as “Baldiga – Unsecured Heart”, which celebrated its world premiere at the Berlinale in 2024. The new film funding company that is being planned will certainly help to further advance film production in the country.
The anticipation for the film “With Heart and Hilde” is great, and many appreciated the filming, which not only included the local culture, but also the people of Western Pomerania.
