New shops in Greifswald: the city center shines in new splendor!

Something is happening in Greifswald! The city center, which has been given a new splendor in recent years thanks to targeted urban development and revitalizing measures, is pleased about numerous new shops that enrich the offerings in the Hanseatic city. These openings are not only a benefit for businesses, but also for the population and visitors, who can now benefit from a wider selection.

A special highlight is the “Mini und Meer” shop, run by the young occupational therapist Marleen Thoms. On June 20th it opened its doors at Schuhhagen 26 and brings a breath of fresh air with a mixture of children's fashion, toys and decorations for adults. The opening times vary from Monday to Saturday so that everyone can stop by.

Diversity and new concepts

Another new opening is “Ham & Moon”, which is run by former language teacher Shasi Poon. Sales began here at Mühlenstrasse 4 in mid-May. In addition to stationery and decorative items, the program also includes clothing and small furniture, and even language courses are offered. With opening hours from Monday to Wednesday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday until 12 p.m., it is inviting for anyone looking for a special browse.

For the lords of creation, “K2K” opened on June 12th at Lange Straße 70, where Mohammed Kfilati, who fled Ukraine, offers men's fashion, especially Turkish brands. Fashion-conscious people can find their new look here from Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The “Backmanufaktur Gertrud” on Markt 26 promises a culinary experience. From June 10th, connoisseurs can try soups, fresh baked goods and breakfast offerings in an attractively designed ambience, inspired by the artist Gertrud Berger. Opening hours from Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. invite you to start your morning here.

A new café and a cozy meeting place

The “Café Spiegelchen” set new accents on June 13th with a special gastronomic concept on Schützenstrasse 20. Managing director Svea Bohlscheid, a talented vegan food management student, offers both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food and drinks here. With opening hours from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., the café attracts the entire city population to a social gathering.

Last but not least, the “Kaffeemühle” was reopened at Mühlenstrasse 3. Linda Schwenke, the former nurse, transformed the former antique shop into a cozy café. You can relax here from Tuesday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. - perhaps with a cup of freshly brewed coffee and a look at the attractive furniture, which is also available for purchase.

Cultural development and urban development

Such diverse offerings are part of the comprehensive urban development that Greifswald is striving for. The city center covers around 140 hectares and combines historical and modern structures, with a focus on the vitality and attractiveness of the city center. The University of Greifswald and various research institutes contribute to the revitalization and invite students and visitors to explore the city. The long history and the impressive architecture of the old town, characterized by North German brick Gothic, make Greifswald a unique place.

These new shops not only strengthen the city center as a commercial and supply center, but also provide a beautiful home for a diverse population that values the short distances and direct access to the services offered. It remains to be seen how the changes will affect life in Greifswald, but one thing is certain: something is happening here!
