Emergency roof for Neuenkirchens rectory: 60,000 euros for receipt!

In Neuenkirchen, the local rectory threatens a bad fate, but there is hope: an emergency roof that is to be built with a budget of 60,000 euros could protect the historical building from further decay. Like the Ostsee-Zeitung reports, the roof is leaking, and water stains on the ceilings testify to the need for urgent measures. The rectory, which dates from the 18th and 19th centuries and has an impressive living space of 600 square meters, urgently needs a rescue. An emergency roof could not only avert worse damage, but also support the goal of using the rectory as a community center where local clubs can meet.

The support association takes care of the preservation of this relevant cultural monument in cooperation with the parish. It is particularly gratifying that the bell club has already provided 7,000 euros in donations. The rectory includes an entire ensemble, which also includes the church, the cemetery and several historical outbuildings. The planned renovation should take place gradually without disturbing the ongoing operation. A small apartment in the rectory is to be created to increase the economy of the center. However, no expansion of the attic is provided, which seems sensible in view of the monument protection requirements.

new community center in the old gloss

The feeling of community in Neuenkirchen is also strengthened by the freshly initiated parish hall. After eight months of construction, the renovated and redesigned building was celebrated on November 28, as the Rotenburger Rundschau . The numerous changes include a new entrance area with a glass vord roof, a light foyer with a hipped roof and large -scale glass elements as well as a modern kitchen in the intermediate building that serves as a lounge.

The energetic renovation of the parish hall has a high priority. The outer walls have been insulated with a heat composite system, and the window front was provided with modern triple glazing. These measures are not only good for the wallet, but also for the environment, because they contribute to reducing energy costs. Until the new access from the church side and the new covered terrace in the garden, everything was rethought in the sense of sustainability and comfort. The total costs of the extensive renovation work amounted to around 350,000 euros, with financing aids from the EU, grants from the church and own funds of the community.

The challenge monument protection

But the loving design and the maintenance of listed buildings are not an easy task. As can be read on DACH24 , special requirements and strict requirements for material selection as well as restoration techniques must be observed. One of the basic goals of renovations is the preservation of the historical building fabric and the character of the building. For construction work on listed objects, permits must be obtained from both the responsible monument protection authority and the building authority so that possible fines or even dismantling are avoided.

In a case like the Neuenkirchen rectory, the challenges are great, but thanks to the committed support from local clubs and the parish, there is a great hope that the building can shine in new light. In the sense of ensemble protection, the entire area will continue to be cultivated in historical tradition.
