Putbus: Young people transform bee cars into a creative meeting point!

Putbus, Deutschland - In Putbus there is a breath of fresh wind, because three young people have made a very special project. Florian, Elias and Hannes show what it means to work for the community: they want to transform an old bee car into a youth club. They are supported by two volunteers who tackle their manual skills. "We have already completed the roof repair, the next step is the interior design," explains Hannes full of enthusiasm.

Not only the expansion of the bee car is on the agenda. A suitable parking space is the next big topic. At the moment the car is with a farmer in the area, but this is by no means intended as a permanent solution. "We are urgently looking for a private person who has space for our bee car," says Elias. The city's education and social committee tries to find a suitable location, but so far the ideas have failed to have a painful topic: the insurance issues for public locations. The youngsters receive support from a former primary school teacher who is familiar with the city.

Insurance coverage for commitment

In Germany, volunteer activities are extremely important and most are aware that they make a valuable contribution to their municipality. But what many do not know: Insurance coverage can be complicated for volunteers. As described on volunteer server , there is subsidiary insurance protection that applies if private or institutional liability insurance is not sufficient. This means that volunteers with existing insurance coverage first have to fall back on them.

For young people in Putbus, it could be useful to be clear about the regulations. In Lower Saxony, volunteers not only enjoy liability protection, but also accident insurance protection. However, this only works as long as the volunteers do not yet have their own protection, for example through existing policies of their carriers. Those volunteers can claim up to 5 million euros for personal injury and property damage as well as 250,000 euros for financial losses, while statutory accident insurance is not sufficient in all cases and is not always comprehensive, as the Consumer center emphasized.

The way to the destination

The challenge of the insurance did not discourage the young people. Her motivation to find a place for the bee car remains unbroken. The project could not only offer the villagers a new contact point, but also be a showcase project for other voluntary initiatives in the region. The idea of creating a room for young people has succeeded and would probably also bring great benefit to the community.

also commit yourself to the youngsters in Putbus and support the search! Perhaps you have a location or ideas that could help young people to achieve their goal. Pack and win together - this is how an old bee car becomes a shining place for the youth!
