Last weekend the Baltic Sea once again became the backdrop for a great cultural event. The second edition of the HanseFiSH Festival, embedded in the 34th Hanse Sail, attracted over 3,500 visitors, mostly from the younger generation. This means that the festival has clearly become a magnet for young people and tourists. There was not only an impressive program over the weekend, but also a beach fireworks display on Thursday evening, which attracted many additional guests. The experience on the beach was further enriched by the collaboration with various partners such as the Medienwerkstatt Rostock and the WAL Strandbar Northern Courier reported.
A real highlight was the Northern European Music Awards ceremony, where the music video “Avalanche” by Monolink won the coveted prize. Directors Zoe Stiletano and Vasco Alexandre from Copenhagen ensured that Denmark won the award for the second year in a row. This awards event was an integral part of the colorful program, which also presented music videos from nine Baltic Sea states and accompanied the guests to the Wal Strandbar.
Film enjoyment and cultural diversity
This weekend, the International Ocean Film Tour screened five impressive documentaries that focus on the relationship between humans and the sea. The film screening was supported by selected short films by up-and-coming filmmakers from the FiSH Film Festival archive. With works such as “Fishing” by Andreas Dürr and “Lumber Slumber” by Filip Wilkström, the event brought laughter and also some emotional moments. On Saturday evening, the Wal Strandbar was transformed into a beach club, which was particularly popular with students and creative people. Here, the DJ collective Sugar Crave created a relaxed atmosphere that further fueled the party mood. The celebrations ended on Sunday evening with the “HausLese am Meer”, which was moderated by Jens Lippert and Tobias Wolff. The finale offered a poetic evening with artist lectures, music and cabaret performances, which rounded off the festival days successfully.
