Fabian murder case: Suspicious ex-girlfriend in the focus of the investigation!

On October 10, 2025, eight-year-old Fabian disappeared from his apartment in Güstrow. Just four days later, on October 14th, his father's ex-girlfriend, who was out in the woods with a friend, discovered his body in a pond. To cover up traces, the body had been set heavily on fire. These shocking details revealed a brutal act that shocked not only the family but also the entire region. The police quickly got involved and started a call for witnesses on the ZDF program “Aktenzeichen XY”.

The father's ex-girlfriend has been the focus of the investigation ever since. Claudia Kauer, Fabian's mother's cousin, expressed serious doubts about the woman's portrayal and suspects that she was jealous of Fabian because the boy was allowed to see his father again. Fabian's mother reacted deeply to the discovery and blamed herself. These emotional circumstances put the family in an extremely tense situation; she is confronted with both loss and questions of 'why'.

The investigation is gaining momentum

Around four weeks after Fabian's death, the Rostock public prosecutor's office issued an arrest warrant on suspicion of murder against the father's ex-girlfriend. The Rostock senior public prosecutor Harald Nowack explained that the suspicion was based on an analysis of the previous evidence. The arrest followed hours of searches in the area involving around 120 police officers. During these operations, her property as well as an off-road vehicle and sports shoes were confiscated.

In another twist, a shepherd confirmed seeing the ex-girlfriend near the site, further fueling doubts about her innocence. The public prosecutor's office responded to the relatives' questions and fears by clarifying that the suspect was not suspected of committing a crime and that the measures taken to preserve evidence were not directly related to the arrest.

A desperate cry for answers

The Fabians family is increasingly criticizing the communication with the investigative authorities and is calling for further clarification and support. According to Claudia Kauer, the family does not believe that the crime could have been committed by a single person, which leads to speculation about possible accomplices. The prosecution stated that Fabian was killed on October 10th between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.; the body was set on fire, apparently to cover up the traces of the crime.

The circumstances surrounding Fabian's death show that a dark and desperate search for clarity and justice is taking place in the town of Güstrow. Events progress, but the questions remain: Who did this to Fabian and why? The family and community are patiently waiting for answers in a case already marked by grief and horror.
