New lead in the Fabian murder case: Witnesses come forward with information!
There are new developments in the shocking murder case of eight-year-old Fabian from Güstrow, who disappeared without a trace on October 10th. On November 22, 2025, one day after a public call for witnesses, the first witnesses come forward with potentially crucial information. The investigators at the Rostock public prosecutor's office are optimistic that this information could lead to new findings. However, whether this is the case is still up in the air as official confirmation is pending.
According to current reports, the police are looking for information about an orange Ford Ranger that could have been seen in the Güstrow area on October 10th. This car belongs to the suspect Gina H., who was arrested on November 6th under strong suspicion of murder. According to Fabian's mother, Gina H. is the ex-girlfriend of the little boy's father. She is currently in custody and the Ford Ranger is key evidence that has already been forensically examined. An appeal to the public has been launched: Anyone who saw the vehicle at the time in question or made other observations about what was happening is asked to come forward. According to Chief Public Prosecutor Harald Nowack, this is of great importance for the progress of the investigation.
Public assistance required
The police are relying on the public's attention to collect information that may help solve the case. Special moments of the investigation period were the broadcast of the case on the ZDF program “Aktenzeichen XY… unsolved”, followed by the arrest the next day. Dashcam footage from the day of the disappearance is expressly requested as this could provide valuable information. The photos of the Ford Ranger, presumably taken at the alleged crime scene, have already been published. Investigators hope that the visibility of the case will provide the decisive breakthrough.
Despite the decline in violent crime in Germany, as recorded in the 2024 police crime statistics, the number of murder victims remains constant. Last year, 285 murder cases were registered, which remains worrying given the number of unreported cases. Crimes against life only make up 0.1% of the total number of crimes processed, although there are a high number of unpublished crimes, particularly in the case of family crimes. The public calls for help are also a sign that the clearance rate is unfortunately not always satisfactory - in 2024 it was 58%.
The investigation into Fabian's murder is still in its early stages, but with the support of the public there is hope that light can be shed on this tragic story. The Rostock criminal police or the state police's online watchdog are available for anyone who has information or would like to provide tips.
