Vernissage in Güstrow: Roman Schöne shows fascinating country art!

An exciting vernissage will take place in Güstrow next July 12th, which should attract art lovers and nature lovers. Martina Fregin, who has created a contact point for contemporary art with her gallery at Hageböcker Straße 10 since May 2022, will open the exhibition “Hokus Focus – Landart” with the works of the renowned artist Roman Schöne from 11 a.m. Fregin sees art as a balance to her long-standing connection to technology and crafts and wants to use her gallery to create a creative space for engaging with art, as Nordkurier reports.

Roman Schöne, born in Vetschau/Spreewald in 1983, is intensively involved with Land Art, an art movement that has been working since the 1960s to use the landscape as a medium for artistic expression. His works are created in dialogue with nature and the conditions of the respective location. He uses materials that he finds directly in nature and adapts his techniques flexibly to the environment. The aim is to emphasize the transience of his works, which reflect natural cycles - a concept that is also considered essential in land art. Roman-Schöne.de emphasizes that his art addresses the relationship between humans and nature and offers an alternative to Anthropocene action.

The connection between art and nature

Land art is not only a creative expression but also a reaction to the commercialization of traditional art practices. As Galerie Gerdes describes, many artists in this movement want to explore new ways to express their connection with nature. Monumental and often ephemeral works, created directly in the landscape, challenge the way we view art and draw awareness of ecological issues into the discussion about contemporary art.

The opening on Saturday offers visitors the opportunity to experience beautiful, fascinating installations and objects that are in close contact with their surroundings. His works change over time and are literally taken back by nature. They not only inspire amazement, but also invite you to think about your own relationship to the environment.

The Fregin Gallery is open on the following days: Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The gallery remains closed from Sunday to Tuesday. So if you're curious about Roman Schöne's unique style of art, you should definitely mark July 12th in your calendar!
