Discover the Ludwigslust Palace Park: Exclusive tour on August 26th!

On July 14, 2025, the Ludwigslust Palace Park will provide the scene for an exciting hike through the impressive landscape. This Tuesday, August 26th, 2025, it starts at 6:00 p.m. from the “Natureum”, the former fountain house next to the castle. Led by Uwe Jueg, chairman of Naturfreunde Ludwigslust (NGM), participants can look forward to a 1.5-hour discovery tour through the park's historical features and diverse trees.

The castle park is not only a place of peace, but also a living testimony to the history of landscape design. The origin goes back to the hunting lodge of Prince Christian Ludwig. The park has changed significantly since the 18th century, with important personalities such as Duke Frederick the Pious, Frederick Francis I and the landscape designer Peter-Joseph Lenné leaving their mark. Over 300 different trees and bushes make the Ludwigslust Palace Park a real attraction for nature lovers.

Discover and enjoy

A highlight of the excursion will be the visit to the Louisen Mausoleum, which is accessible during the tour. For the fee of €3 for NGM members or €4 for guests (children only pay half the price), participants can look forward to an all-round informative experience. The castle park, with 127 hectares one of the largest parks in Northern Germany, offers numerous idyllic views and sights with its extensive network of paths. So why not spend a relaxing afternoon in this special natural setting?

The “Natureum Ludwigslust”, adjacent to the castle park, is the only nature museum in West Mecklenburg and is run by a volunteer association. Both children and adults can explore the local nature here. Opening hours are irregular, with the door open from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on weekends and public holidays from April to October. To plan a visit, interested parties can contact board members. These complement the nature experience world's offerings in order to get even more people excited about the local conditions.

Technical support for discovery

For technology lovers, there is also a free audio guide app in the castle park, which is a special enrichment of the visit. In addition to exciting information about places worth seeing, the app also contains creative audio stories for children. Anyone can easily download this onto their smartphone and thus design the tours individually. Information about this can be found on the region’s website.

The Ludwigslust Palace Park is not only a destination for excursions, but also a place of history, culture and natural beauty. So grab friends or family and get ready for the expedition through this unique green space.
