Great anticipation in Ludwigslust: U24 European Championship team starts in the Speedway!

Next Saturday, July 12, 2025, there will be a lot of activity in the Ludwigsluster Motodrom, because then the U24 Team European Championship qualification will take place as part of the Speedway European Championship. A total of four countries will be competing: the Czech Republic, Great Britain, Denmark and Germany. The event organization has been making waves for weeks and the anticipation is palpable.

The German team is represented by the best riders from the German U21 Championship. The Ludwigsluster Motorsport Club, under the leadership of club chairman Cathleen Reimer, has prepared intensively for the event. “We are very pleased about FIM Europe’s decision to hold this qualification here in Ludwigslust,” says Reimer enthusiastically.

Teams and drivers at a glance

The competition is impressive. The Czech team relies on Jan Kvech, a Speedway Grand Prix driver, and Adam “Bubba” Bednar, who is also active in the U21 Grand Prix. Leon Flint, who drives for AC Landshut in the Polish league, and two other U21 World Championship riders stand out from the British team. Denmark is represented by Mikkel Andersen, a U21 World Cup rider. The races start at 5 p.m. and there will be an exciting driver introduction beforehand.

This event is part of a larger framework: In 2025, a total of three races for the European Speedway Championship will be held in Germany. Ludwigslust is therefore not only a highlight, but also a crucial element of the entire championship, which includes a total of six speedway titles at European level. Various races lead from the qualifying round in Brokstedt on May 1st to the crucial final events that will take place in Germany and Poland.

A look at the qualifications

The pre-qualifications are already in full swing. Eight German drivers took part in the qualifying races in different countries. Your goal? A place in the European Championship Challenge on May 12th in Daugavpils, Latvia. While some drivers like Erik Riss, the three-time long course world champion, achieved pleasing results, others like Norick Blödorn and Kevin Wölbert fell short of their expectations. The next challenges are just around the corner and interest in speedway sports is constantly growing.

The qualification in Ludwigslust will be a key event as only the top two nations qualify for the grand final in Macon, France. This is no small task and the excitement will be high not only for the drivers but also for the audience.

The weekend promises to be an exciting sporting event in which teams from all over Europe will compete. A good knack for exciting races and committed drivers as well as the support of the spectators will definitely be in demand. We are all excited to see who will set the best times on the track and, with a bit of luck, qualify for the final!
