Ludwigslust celebrates: Kevin Wölbert wins the trophy on his birthday!

Last weekend, Ludwigslust experienced a real spectacle on the speedway track, which was celebrated with 1,500 enthusiastic spectators. Tony Schröder from MC Ludwigslust spoke of exciting races and tough conditions that demanded everything from the drivers. The heat and the demanding track provided an additional kick. The speedway day began on Saturday at 3 p.m. with the North German Track Championship in the Junior A PW50 and Junior BII 85 cc youth classes, before the main event of the day followed.

The focus was on the men's main race, in which Kevin Wölbert was able to receive the popular Ludwigsluster Cup on his 36th birthday. This seventh edition of the race for the Karl Heinz Podeyn Cup, named after the club's former honorary president, made the spectators' hearts beat faster. In the first runs, both Norick Blödorn and Wölbert showed impressive performances.

Excitement until the finish line

Norick Blödorn got off to a perfect start in the second round, but Kevin Wölbert initially fell behind. But the local hero found his rhythm again and remained unbeaten in the subsequent runs. Blödorn only gave up a point in the fourth round, which made for an exciting finale. In the decisive final race, Blödorn took the lead, but Wölbert launched a courageous attack and overtook his competitor in the finish curve on the second lap. He secured victory with a brilliant finish.

The club's chairwoman Cathleen Reimer said she was proud of the good number of visitors and how the event went. She praised the efforts of the numerous helpers, without whom the event could not have taken place. There was a sense of team spirit that made the evening a special one.

Outlook for upcoming events

The MC Ludwigslust already has its sights set on the next attraction. The “U24 Team European Championship Qualification” will take place on July 12th, where the winner has the chance to advance to the final. In addition to local talent, there are also some more well-known faces expected to captivate viewers.

Motorsport is on the rise in Ludwigslust. With an annual program that offers exciting races until September, the sporting community remains active and invites everyone interested to be part of this exciting time. Whether at the speedway training, which will be offered every Saturday from May for PW50 and Junior BII, or at the upcoming event - there are numerous opportunities to experience the fascination of speedway racing up close. Another highlight in the international racing calendar is on June 13th, when the Speedway Grand Prix Round 4 will take place in Manchester.
